Position Summary

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a talented Research Associate to join VelociGene's neurodegenerative disease research team. The individual will be involved in basic research studies designed to understand the biology behind various neurodegenerative diseases, such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's. The goal will be to identify and validate novel therapeutic targets and mechanisms. Additionally, this position will support and expand the development of new technologies, to this same end. This candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary group; we are looking for a highly organized, flexible and motivated research associate.

*Experience and Required Skills:
- Experience in molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry
- Experience with cell based assays (Western Blot, ELISA, FACS) preferred
- Experience with mammalian tissue culture preferred
- Experience with CRISPR and other genome editing tools a plus
- Excellent communication skills and computer proficiency are also required

Requirements:
- This position requires a minimum of a BS or MS degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
- A high level of skill in cellular and molecular biology and biochemistry experimental techniques
- Preferred knowledge would include neurobiology and the growth and maintenance of cells of the nervous system; growth and maintenance of embryonic stem cells
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision but also be a productive and cooperative member of a diverse research team.
- Ability to manage multiple projects
