Position Summary

Partnering with Postdoctoral Program Director and Leaders of other Science Education initiatives to build and maintain multiple science education programs, with a special focus on the Postdoctoral Training Program and the High School Mentorship Program. In partnership with the Postdoctoral Steering Committee, HR, and other stakeholders, conducts the planning, assessment, optimization, administrative tasks, and maintenance of the Postdoctoral Training Program and associated initiatives (Regeneron Prize competition, Science to Medicine Forum conference, etc.) and assists with the same tasks for the STEM Teacher Fellowship, High School Shadowing Program, and other science education programs. Primary responsibility for the High School Mentorship Program, including both directing and providing administrative support for all aspects of the program with the exception of the scientific vision and curriculum. Works with the Postdoctoral Program Director and other activity leaders and stakeholders to plan, assess, optimize, and execute multiple annual science education-related events, including the Regeneron Prize Competition, the Regeneron Science to Medicine Forum, the Postdoctoral Program Off-Site Retreat, and Regeneron Kids' Science Day. Plans and coordinates visits to and from multiple academic institutions and career events for graduate and postdoctoral level trainees. Plans and conducts assessments of all programs, and maintains alumni records for outcomes evaluation.

Reporting to the Postdoctoral Director and working under minimal guidance:
Postdoctoral Training Program:
  • Provides all administrative support for the program, including planning meetings, coordinating paperwork, coordinating travel, and creating and maintaining files and databases
  • Plans and executes program activities and events, including data presentations, courses taught by fellows, and the annual postdoctoral program retreat
  • Plans and executes event logistics for events intended to enhance recruitment, visibility, and interaction with academic institutions such as the Regeneron Science to Medicine Forum, the Regeneron Prize competition, visits to academic institutions & career fairs, and on-site visits by regional graduate and postdoctoral programs
  • Provides administrative support and guidance to Steering Committee during application review for the Postdoctoral Training Program and Regeneron Prize competition
  • Trains new fellows about to navigate administrative tasks relevant to their fellowship and assists with launching professional memberships, conference travel, and other professional enrichment
  • Build relationships with postdoctoral fellows, core committee, steering committee, and other stakeholders to ensure positive experience and facilitate communication
  • Assists with assessment of postdoctoral program and related activities, including launching assessment tools, summarizing results, and establishing alumni outcome evaluations
  • Maintains lists of internal academic liaisons and external academic contacts for the Postdoctoral Program and Regeneron Prize competition
  • High School Mentorship Program
  • Maintains contact lists for local high schools and major competitions to encourage communication. Plans annual information session for teachers and attends annual WESEF teacher information session hosted by WESEF directors.
  • Conducts annual high school mentorship application process, including mentor recruitment, on-site interviews, and matching of mentors and students
  • Interfaces with HR to ensure that students are appropriately placed or triaged into alternate program activities and that all selected students are on-boarded appropriately
  • Builds relationships with high school mentorship students, mentors, teachers, and HR representatives to ensure positive experience and facilitate communication
  • Serves as primary contact for students, HR, teachers, mentors, and parents throughout the application process and program. Ensures strong communication about program externally and internally
  • Plans and schedules all summer events for students, including planning the annual team-building event and conducting the introduction to program and one-slide review sessions
  • Presents information about the mentorship program to students (during interviews and orientation), parents (during interviews), and teachers (during teacher information session)
  • Conducts the annual assessment of the high school program and its alumni and uses feedback to improve program annually. Provides information to Corporate Communications or other stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintains contacts with all students throughout the academic year to track status and progress, track competitions, ensure proper legal clearance for competitions, and schedule end of program activities
  • Other Science Education Initiatives
  • Provides administrative support for multiple science education initiatives, including Regeneron Kids' Science Day and the STEM Teacher Fellowship
  • Plans, advertises, and conducts Kids' Day registration
  • Plans, advertises, and launches Kids' Day volunteer database
  • Serves as primary point of contact for Kids' Day parents
  • Serves as key member of Kids' Day Steering Committee, which plans and executes Kids' Day
  • Coordinates supply lists and inventory for Kids' Day activities
  • Responsible for preparing parent, kid, and group leader information packets for distribution on Kids' Day morning
  • Shares responsibility for conducting and/or overseeing Kids' Day set-up the weekend before Kid's Day and for taking down Kids' Day and storing remaining materials
  • Serves as one of two Kids' Day campus leaders, overseeing the moment-to-moment logistics on one side of the Regeneron campus
  • Plans and conducts annual Kids' Day assessment for parents, group leaders, and activity leaders, and recommends improvements to logistics or curriculum based on feedback


• Bachelor's degree with 4+ year's work experience in Science Education and Program Administration, or with demonstrated ability to multi-task, organize, and administer complex tasks and accountabilities.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications - including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Survey Tools. Advanced Excel proficiency essential.

• Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects.

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

• Ability to conduct process planning to optimize and integrate multiple workflows.

• Ability to meet goals, objectives and deadlines in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
Additional Preferences:

• Strong process orientation, stakeholder focus and commitment to continuous improvement; ability to proactively network and establish effective working relationships with external contacts such as candidates and academic institutions. Must work well in a team environment. Leadership and project management skills desirable. Event management experience desirable.

• The ideal coordinator needs to be extremely organized with high level time-management skills, the ability to learn quickly with follow-through skills, be flexible, and have a high attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential due to heavy interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
