AveXis, Inc., a Novartis Company , is a clinical-stage gene therapy company, dedicated to developing and commercializing novel treatments for patients suffering from rare and life-threatening neurological genetic diseases. Our initial product candidate, AVXS-101, is our proprietary gene therapy product candidate currently in development for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA, Type 1, the leading genetic cause of infant mortality, and for the treatment of SMA Type 2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has granted AVXS-101 Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of all types of SMA and Breakthrough Therapy Designation, as well as Fast Track Designation for the treatment of SMA Type 1. In addition to developing AVXS-101 to treat SMA Type 1 and Type 2, we also plan to develop other novel treatments for rare neurological diseases, including Rett syndrome (RTT) and a genetic form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) caused by mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene.

The Systems Analyst is responsible for supporting a very functional and integrated set of systems that enable the company to fulfil its mission. The IT function, inclusive of the cloud based QAD ERP, Quality and Document Management Systems and related other software and hardware, is an integral part of the cutting-edge facilities and recent investments made by AveXis.


  • Generate and maintain standard configuration and images (for servers/desktops/ laptops).
  • Conducts interviews and performs analysis to create project charters (business case for the suggested projects).
  • Participate in systems management and administration for Exchange, Office365 integration, server hardware, phone systems, backups, and network build.
  • Collects project performance data for all ongoing projects.
  • Participates in Process Management efforts to collect and analyze metrics to continually improve processes owned by the Departments.
  • Participate in root cause analysis to recommend product enhancements or other appropriate actions to improve productivity for both the Departments and IT.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences/Information Technology or related life science field required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in technology implementation, application systems maintenance, and hardware support required.
  • Experience understanding business requirements and determining the best way(s) to implement problem-solving technology.
  • Experience managing internal office networks with the ability to troubleshoot performance issues and security vulnerabilities.
  • Experience working with cloud based software platforms.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Life Sciences/Pharma, manufacturing, FDA regulatory requirements.
  • Must have experience with GMP regulations.
  • Experience with manufacturing technology/automation (e.g., bar code reading, operating machine integration, label printing) a plus.
  • Establish close partnerships with departments.
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to extensively analyze business processes and workflows.
  • Strong business/client engagement skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of systems integration.
