This position supports AbbVie's North Chicago manufacturing operations: Elagolix, Survanta, and the fermentation business. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills with finance and non-finance personnel, a strong interest in product manufacturing processes and their related impacts on financial reporting, and the drive to enable and encourage continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide financial support and guidance to North Chicago business unit section managers.
  • Assist in the development of LBE's based on current production plans, driving the consolidation of all North Chicago operations business units.
  • Drive the annual cost standards setting process, assist in developing and consolidating the annual financial plan, and in the development of the plant's long range plan; develop year-to-year cost change analysis and present to North Chicago Operations management.
  • Assist in establishing cost quotes for 3rd party manufacturing opportunities.
  • Lead the consolidation of North Chicago business unit monthly financial results; assist in development of the monthly reporting package for North Chicago's operations management.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the North Chicago manufacturing processes to understand business constraints and translate them into financial impacts; develop ad hoc analyses to support complex decision making regarding production plans and product mix.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards and a solid internal controls environment.
  • Together with the North Chicago Plant Controller, act as a lead for the North Chicago Operations finance team during internal and/or other audit engagements.
  • Process balance sheet account reconciliations for plant reserve accounts; working directly with the plant business units to ensure proper supporting documentation exists for each account movement.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to 1 financial analyst, and 2 senior financial analysts.

  • Bachelor's degree, preferable in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 5 years of finance/accounting experience
  • Proficient in systems/spreadsheet consolidation skills
  • Possess a working knowledge of the Corporate Financial Manual (CFM) and the ability to apply proper policies to business issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting, actual experience in plant accounting or operations is a plus; related experience in SAP a large plus
