Bioinformatician, Sensory Neuroscience - New York, NY

We are seeking an exceptional, objective-oriented post-doctoral bioinformatician to join a dynamic, cutting-edge research program in the chemical senses. You will become part of a multi-disciplinary discovery team in New York City and collaborate with members of the company’s global R&D community to elucidate the information-processing mechanisms underlying olfactory perception. In particular, we are seeking a candidate specialized in bioinformatics, database design and software development with a strong preference for additional expertise in neuroinformatics, transcriptomics, statistics and related areas. Experience in olfactory biology, organic chemistry, or sensory neuroscience would be an advantage. Applicants must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be comfortable working in a team environment and have a track record of scientific accomplishment.

Essential Skills and Expertise:

  • PhD in biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, or related field with 2+ years of post-doctoral academic or industry research experience.
  • Ability and motivation to quickly acquire new skills and craft creative solutions.
  • Bioinformatics, statistics, database design, software-development.


Main Tasks:

  • Lead projects to address fundamental scientific questions in this area of research, conducting analyses on existing datasets and helping plan collection of new data.
  • Develop bioinformatics analysis pipelines, interfaces & databases.
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of relevant knowledge and technologies.
  • Continually identify opportunities to improve current procedures, protocols, and systems.
  • Participate in data interpretation and information sharing with the wider research team.
  • Present results at team and department meetings, and at external scientific conferences.
  • Write manuscripts of scientific results and submit for publication in top-rated, peer-reviewed journals, patent applications, and/or internal company reports.
