MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supports the Training of Leads and Technicians on Maintenance Techniques, new practices and technologies.
  • Support Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives to improve the reliability of our systems, equipment and operations. Identify areas of opportunities to optimize equipment and systems using Maintenance Program historical data.
  • Provide evaluation of the Maintenance Program against impacting policies and regulations. Develop project plans to allocate Capital or expense as required to deliver on program improvements and changes.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS guidelines, cGMP regulations, Company policies and other external agency regulations. Support the development of related procedures and programs, implement and monitor performance to ensure compliance.
  • Identify areas of opportunity and prepare specific action plans to increase awareness and to maintain compliance
  • Coordinate the creation and modification of documentation to support maintenance activities (Maximo Job Plans, Data Sheets, Work Instructions).
  • Supports the development of departmental budget.
  • Develops standards for major maintenance overhauls and outages, specifically for Shutdown periods.
  • Reviews Cost-Benefits of the Maintenance Programs.
  • Analyses of Equipment Operating Data recorded by the Equipment BAS or PAS and Equipment Log Books.
  • Keeps up to date the different SOPs, Work Instructions, Job Plans and Preventive Maintenance Procedures.
  • Performs investigations, including but not limited to Root Cause Failure Analysis and Quality Events, related to Maintenance Engineering.
  • Support Compliance efforts related to Quality Events, CAPA, Audit and change management activities.
  • Identifies, implements, and monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) exercises in conjunction with Reliability Engineer, System Owners, Maintenance Technicians and Manufacturing Operators.
  • Participate in Maintenance Excellence initiatives within his area.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Knowledge of maintenance, operations and engineering generally attained through studies resulting in a B.S., in engineering, related discipline, or its equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in maintenance, engineering or operations of clean utilities and/or biologic process manufacturing and manufacturing equipment support.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for engineering principles and building and/or manufacturing automation systems.
  • Knowledge of Maximo or other CMMS applications required.
  • SAP and Ariba Knowledge for the Monitoring of expenses to specific Project related activities.
  • Strong experiential knowledge required on Clean Utilities systems.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for engineering principles and building and/or manufacturing automation systems.
  • Experience in working in an environment governed by SOPs and cGMPs and the know-how to work and manage within a regulatory environment.
  • Adaptable to a fast paced, complex and ever changing business environment.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are critical.
  • Willing to work on a night shift or weekends when required.


Additional Information:

Frequently interacts with functional peer groups at various management levels. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain the cooperation of others and conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules.

Incumbent's primarily work environment is varied with time allocated outside and inside all buildings of this complex and includes potential exposure to hazardous materials and requires the appropriate use of Personal Protection Equipment. Work involves direct contact with clean utilities and process equipment including, but is not limited, to aseptic processing equipment, Bioreactors, Tangential flow equipment, Centrifuge, Chromatography columns, HEPA filters, high purity water systems including WFI, sanitary distribution systems, clean steam, process gases, and process control systems. This position covers a 24/7/365 operation and as such will require some time worked during second shift and on weekends.

Works on problems of moderate to complex scope in which analysis of situations or data requires review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Acts as advisor to unit employees and becomes actively involved as required to meet schedules or resolve problems. Ensures budgets, schedules, and performance requirements are met. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules and could consume additional cost and personnel to rectify.

Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals and processes to meet objectives. Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting of objectives and schedules. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Recommends changes to unit policies, and procedures.
