Purpose :

Responsible for managing the internal information systems function. Receives assignments in the form of higher level objectives with goals. Analyzes the needs of functional departments and establishes detail level objectives, goals and priorities for implementing IS solutions to support functional initiatives and/ or provide ongoing support of information systems already deployed. Provides direction to technically skilled employees according to established policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting of objectives. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Recommends changes to unit or sub-unit policies. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules. Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, outside customers and functional peer groups at management levels.

Excellent opportunity supporting the Central Services organization within AbbVie Operations. This will be an entry-level Business Relationship Manager position who will primarily support the Global Facilities, Lake County Site Operations, and Engineering Drawing teams. The candidate should have some experience or strong understanding of Integrated Workplace Management (IWMS) systems, building management/automation systems, CAD drawing systems, or other relating Engineering systems discipline. The candidate should have vast experience working closely with the business to build and execute strategy, evaluate software alternatives / phase 0's, oversee major project initiatives ensuring that intended business benefits are realized via the deployment of intuitive simple solutions. Should have demonstrated experience to conceive innovative solutions which can be standardized on and scaled globally as required. The position requires strong leadership skills, with the ability to establish a strong partnership with the business, bringing original and unique ideas to innovate, as well as a pragmatic approach toward problem solving. Experience with vendor management and managed platforms is required. Some demonstrated capability in leading teams and developing resources is necessary. The candidate should be able to bridge industry trends with business and technology strategies. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential. An understanding or practical application of LEAN/Six Sigma concepts is preferred. Given this business domain, a strong understanding of network and desktop/server technology and troubleshooting skills is also desirable.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc. Provides general supervision to lower level supervisors and direct supervision to exempt employees and/or technically skilled nonexempt employees (i.e., computer operators).
  • Implements a staffing plan by identifying resource requirements, writing justifications for additional personnel, obtaining approval for changes, and coordinating the selection process with Human Resources. Develops direct reports by securing appropriate training, assigning progressively challenging tasks, applying progressive disciplinary action as appropriate and conducting formal written and verbal performance reviews.
  • Monitors daily work operations and provides direction and guidance to lower-level supervisors, experienced exempt employees, or skilled nonexempt staff to achieve unit or project goals.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers, by meeting regularly, responding re quests and explaining procedures.
  • Interprets and executes policies that affect work processes and personnel within the assigned organizational unit.
  • Contributes to the development of operational policies and procedures that affect personnel within the assigned organizational unit.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. Monitors compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. compliance with FDA, BSI, EEO regulations etc).
  • Monitors internal and external indicators by reviewing reports and newsletters, reading organizational literature, meeting with peers and reading departmental.
  • Contributes to the development and monitoring of area budget through regular analysis of cost and spending.
  • Implements strategies for introducing and implementing new technologies, systems, and processes.

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Monitors progress of exempt individuals, teams, supervisors or nonexempt technical individuals toward departmental goals.
  • Monitors costs of projects and of human and material resources within a department or unit.
  • Monitors external environment in area of technical or professional responsibility.
  • Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
  • Develops and/or identifies new work processes and the improved utilization of human and material resources within the assigned area or related departments.
  • Facilitates others involvement in the continuous improvement program; investigates and solves problems that impact work processes and personnel within the assigned unit.
