Join bluebird bio's passionate and collaborative team by contributing to the overall success of our oncology franchise. bluebird bio seeks a veteran with extensive and varied experiences in the US market access for oncology to serve as a Director or Senior Director of Access, Value and Evidence Strategy, Oncology. Reporting to the Vice President, Head of Access Value and Evidence Strategy, the primary responsibilities of this role will be to lead bluebird bio's thinking on the reimbursement and access considerations for bb2121 and to serve as a key contributor in our collaboration with Celgene.

About the role:
  • Accelerate bluebird bio's learning about the evolution of the oncology market access environment in the US including both payer (commercial & Medicare) and provider business models to help inform early development decisions.
  • Become a recognized expert for understanding of innovative oncology price and contracting strategy in the US
  • Attend key US Market Access forums, build relationships with key stakeholders, and be seen a thought leader in the emerging CAR T US Market Access space
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in the Oncology Market Access landscape in the US including providers, commercial payers, Medicare, and intermediaries (e.g., channel partners GPOs, foundations, etc)

About you:
  • An ability to not only succeed, but to thrive in ambiguity and changing environments
  • Advanced degree with 12+ years of experience in biotech/pharma with a demonstrated ability to work cross functionally
  • Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills and an ability to connect insight with experience to shape a clear vision for the future despite a rapidly changing environment
  • Deep knowledge of the oncology market access and business model in the US
  • Preferred: Experience with preparing and delivering on a US Market Access strategy for Multiple Myeloma or hematological malignancy
  • Deep understanding of Commercial and Medicare reimbursement and payment trends in the US, preferably including relationships with key stakeholders
  • Experience oncology price and contracting strategy
  • Deep understanding of channel partners and channel partner capabilities
  • Demonstrated excellence working on a partnered product (preferred)
  • Unquestionable character and demonstration of an ability to live bluebird bio values
  • Excellent organizational skills, an ability multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across multiple functions
