bluebird is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement professional to join our Procurement team. The right candidate will act as a Procurement Business Partner to our Research & Development (R&D) team and support the business with spend and supplier management in related categories. This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned professional to help shape a relatively new and growing strategic Procurement function.

Working with our Associate Director, Procurement this person will be responsible for developing and executing category plans for R&D (Lab Supplies, Lab Equipment, etc) and others, depending on experience.

Activities will include:
  • Together with functional leaders, preparing, distributing and analyzing responses to request for proposal (RFP); supporting supplier evaluation and selection process; Identifying sources of supply and developing relationships with suppliers.
  • Negotiating agreements and ensuring compliance to existing contracts as appropriate.
  • Assisting internal clients to develop metrics to manage and measure supplier performance.
  • Performing supplier negotiations on one-off purchases that are not covered by an existing contract.
  • In collaboration with internal stakeholders, resolving supplier quality and/or services issues as appropriate.
  • Working closely with Legal to ensure contract terms are supported by bluebird.
  • Establishing strong business relationships with Suppliers and internal customer groups.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement in Procurement processes, tools, and templates

Successful candidates will have:
  • BA or BS Degree
  • 6+ years' experience in a diverse procurement/sourcing function
  • 3+ years' experience working with lab supplies and equipment suppliers within biotech/pharmaceutical industry (or other industries, ie Higher Ed, Healthcare)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead the implementation of Strategic Sourcing projects.
  • High communications skill required to establish strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated understanding of spend analysis, eSourcing, savings reporting, and Supplier Relationship Management
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Procurement qualification and certification a plus (CPM, CPSM)
