Incyte is seeking a motivated and creative Ph.D. scientist to contribute to early drug discovery projects in oncology. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and validating cell based assays to support compound characterization and SAR. The successful candidate will work closely with scientists from the technology, pharmacology, chemistry and HTS groups at the interface of transitioning new targets into full discovery programs.  He/she will have the opportunity to continue as a team member for specific programs to address evolving assay needs. A solid understanding of cancer cell biology as well as knowledge and experience with a variety of cell based assay formats including endpoint and phenotypic assays is required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist discovery project teams with the development of robust and biologically relevant cell-based assays for small molecule discovery
  • Miniaturize and adapt cell-based assays to automated screening systems
  •  Propose and develop innovative approaches to phenotypic screening and small molecule discovery
  • Serve as a core representative on interdisciplinary project teams providing expertise on assay development and data interpretation
  • Scout and evaluate novel cell based screening and assay platforms

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD with relevant experience preferably in pharmaceutical/biotech setting, with knowledge of cancer cell biology and demonstrated assay development experience
  • Expertise in variety of cell-based assay formats and data analysis including image-based assays, functional assays, and signaling pathway analysis
  • Knowledge and understanding of HTS workflows, data handling and reporting is necessary; familiarity with liquid handling instrumentation is a plus
  • Effective communication and presentation skills and willingness to collaborate with different functional groups is essential
  • Self-motivated and highly organized with ability to work on multiple projects
