Position Summary

Known for its scientific and operational excellence, Regeneron is a leading science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, invents, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. Regeneron commercializes medicines for eye diseases, high LDL-cholesterol, atopic dermatitis and a rare inflammatory condition and has product candidates in development in other areas of high unmet medical need, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, pain, cancer and infectious diseases.

The Cardiovascular/Renal Disease Research Group is looking to hire a Research Associate. The individual, under the guidance of a Senior Research Associate, will be responsible for performing and/or supporting in-vivo studies in support of novel Regeneron compounds in development, for phenotyping of genetically modified mice, and in completing in vivo studies in support of novel target discovery. The candidate will ideally present with hands-on experience conducting and/or supporting small animal pharmacology experiments. Duties will include rodent handling, dosing (s.c., i.p., p.o., i.v., etc.), bleeding (RO, tail, etc.), surgical support, telemetry implantation and acquisition support, and imaging acquisition support. We envision this as an opportunity for the right candidate to be provided the opportunity to work on cutting edge in vivo cardiovascular research, while acquiring and excelling in small animal surgical procedures for models of heart failure and hypertension including aortic constriction, permanent and transient myocardial infarction, mini-pump implantation, catheter implantation and radiotelemetry implantation. The individual is expected to be enthusiastic and highly self-motivated, and dedicated to advancing drug discovery projects and exploring novel biology within Regeneron's fast paced environment.

In Vivo:

• Independently execute in vivo pharmacology/surgical/Regeneron test article studies;

• Provide surgical support to senior RA surgeon for the conduct of models (aortic constriction, permanent/transient myocardial ischemia, mini-pump implantation (i.v. and s.c.), venous catheter implantation, telemeter implantation (blood pressure, ECG) ;

• Rodent handling, dosing (s.c., i.p., p.o., i.v., etc.), bleeding (RO, tail, etc.), and tissue collection;

• Support surgical telemetry implantation;

• Acquire and analyze telemetry data;

• Support image (ultrasound, CT, PET, etc.) acquisition;

• Analyze data (Prism, Excel) - draw conclusions from results and be able to troubleshoot as necessary.

• Document experiments, results and findings in electronic laboratory notebook

• Present work at group and departmental meetings

  • The conduct of models (aortic constriction, permanent/transient myocardial ischemia, mini-pump implantation (i.v. and s.c.), venous catheter implantation, telemeter implantation (blood pressure, ECG)
  • Rodent handling, dosing (s.c., i.p., p.o., i.v., etc.), bleeding (RO, tail, etc.), and tissue collection
  • Support of surgical telemetry implantation
  • Acquiring and analyzing telemetry data
  • Candidate should have a strong passion in biological science and technology, and a willingness to follow advances in the space and learn new techniques.
