Position Summary

We are looking for a research associate for our VelociGene labs. Our group develops and analyzes complex mouse models of human disease. This person will apply cutting edge BAC recombineering techniques in construction of VelociGene targeting vectors. This person will also assist in analyzing these models, applying in vivo imaging techniques and evaluating new reporter cell lines.

Responsibilities:

• Using cutting edge VelociGene technology, including BAC recombineering, to create targeting vectors for genetically engineered mouse models

• Working with bacterial cultures and BAC DNA preps

• Becoming deeply knowledgeable with various DNA analysis software

• Performing general laboratory animal work including in vivo imaging and necropsy.

• Participating in technology development, including targeting construct generation improvements and new molecular biology procedures

• Keeping lab notebooks and records up to date and showing good organization of their daily tasks

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor or Master's Degree (M.A) or equivalent; 2 or more years related experience and/or training in:

• Skills in basic Molecular Biology procedures

• Basic knowledge of DNA analysis software

• Experience in mouse handling and routine in vivo techniques.

• Teamwork and collaboration are crucial characteristics to have in this matrix environment
