The Analyst, Global Trade Compliance will support import/export operations for AbbVie's trade activity in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada. Working in a team office environment, the analyst will be responsible for coordinating import and export clearance processes while ensuring compliance with all relevant U.S. Customs regulations and trade laws and regulations, including FDA, USDA, and other US regulatory agency requirements.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Applies working knowledge of import/export regulations and requirements to support business needs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate information is submitted to U.S. Customs and other partnering government agencies impacting our imports and exports. Ensure proper follow-up to ensure resolution or release.
  • Utilize inbound/outbound shipping documents, procedures, and AbbVie global trade management systems to precisely complete import/export filings.
  • Work directly with foreign suppliers, internal stakeholders and carriers/freight forwarders to prioritize and complete work according to business need.
  • Ensure proper classification, valuation and origin determination for various shipment types, including those under the research and development, samples and non-commercial goods areas.
  • Support the implementation of any appropriate corrective actions or process improvement required by an internal assessment/review .
  • Regular interfacing with related functional areas (Supply Chain, Purchasing, , etc.) on customs matters - both compliance and process improvement related.
  • Support functional or company initiatives on elevating customs compliance and operational excellence , such as C-TPAT and ISA
  • Conduct effective and timely transactional audits of all import/export records. Elevates issues requiring correction to GTC leadership.
  • Provide analytical support to general import/export-related projects, as needed.
  • Participate and/or lead projects that increase efficiency or improve monitoring of compliance issues.

  • Bachelor's degree: Preferred. Business, global logistics/transportation, or other related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in import/export operations, logistics, or other related field.
  • Strong team player that genuinely enjoys working with others.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (Experience with SAP & SAP GTS preferred).
  • Highly organized and acute attention to detail required.
  • Effective communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills are absolutely critical for this position.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and manage time appropriately.
  • Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist, optional.
