The Biologics Discovery organization seeks an outstanding candidate to join the Biotherapeutics Discovery Group. This Associated Principal Scientist will work on target identification and biotherapeutics lead identification utilizing multiple strategies and platforms. The candidate will have demonstrated success in designing functional assays and performing antibody phenotypic screens to identify biologics leads. This work will advance large-molecule research programs from target validation through to pre-clinical candidate selection. Broad expertise in molecular and cellular biology is required with preference given to candidates with demonstrated experience working with clinical samples and advancing biotherapeutics to the clinic. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, will work well both independently and as part of a team, and will be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and have experience managing lab personnel. With supervision the role includes planning, designing, and developing new methods and executing projects utilizing good scientific judgment. The position is a hands-on, laboratory-based role and will have direct report(s).
Education Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 years of industry experience within biologics drug discovery OR a Master’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of industry experience within biologics drug discovery or PhD degree in biological sciences with a minimum of 4 years of industry experience within biologics drug discovery
Required Experience and Skills:
• Advanced molecular biology skills, including demonstrated success in library design and cell line engineering for functional antibody screening
• Advanced cellular biology experience including engineering and ex-vivo primary cell assays
• Experience with bioinformatics and genomics including data analysis and visualization
• Must be able to work independently
• Work plan design and managing external projects at CRO
Preferred Experience and Skills:
• Experience in one or more of the following therapy areas:
o Cardio-metabolic and renal diseases
o Infectious disease
• Demonstrated track record of Biotherapeutics lead discovery of clinical candidates
• Experience working with clinical samples
• Experience with flow cytometry
• People management
• Project management
