Position Summary

The Sales Operations Lead is responsible for managing a small team in support of the regular operations of sales representatives in Ipsen North America's field teams. This role combines strong interpersonal and organizational skills with extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical sales and marketing to drive field team excellence.

Along with ensuring sales team performance, the Sales Operations Lead is responsible for all Federal and State reporting and reconciliation and must be fully versed in all regulations pertaining to promotion and sampling. The position must understand, enforce and adhere to FDA, DEA, PDMA, OIG PhRMA, appropriate state regulations, and external regulatory affairs and compliance guidelines.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Meet regularly with Ipsen Senior Executives from Sales, Marketing, V&A, Legal and Compliance to ensure a thorough understanding of their goals and objectives.
  • Ensure high quality operations for an Ipsen sampling program for all brands that sample product. Lead the effort with Legal and Compliance to build a process for sampling Ipsen products that meets all state and federal regulations.
  • Leads a cross functional Sample Compliance Steering Committee that ensures compliance within the Ipsen Sampling program.
  • Lead the process to choose the Ipsen Sampling vendor and fully manage the chosen sampling vendor to ensure that all sampling activities are meeting contractual performance agreements and are compliant with all state and federal regulations. Build a sampling audit process for the Ipsen field force.
  • Build an on-going state-level licensing program and monitor the program for pharmaceutical sales representatives and ensure compliance for all applicable Ipsen staff
  • Build a process with HR to automate a digital roster of sales team members, ensure it is up-to-date and shared throughout the organization.
  • Oversee the fleet program which will include vendor selection and management as well as building a fleet safety program for Ipsen associates.
  • Oversee the fulfillment function-ensuring sales teams have timely, and compliant access to all promotional materials Manage the Fleet and Fulfillment manager to ensure each of their duties is kept to the highest standard.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree in business administration or related field preferred

  • 7+ years of pharmaceuticals and life sciences experience preferred
  • 5+ combined years of experience in state licensing, fleet management, sample compliance and/or fulfillment.
  • 3+ years of direct team leadership experience preferred, with the influence to manage a cross-functional team of individuals with diverse skill sets and backgrounds

Core Competencies (Specific knowledge, skills and abilities that enable an individual to effectively perform the job)
  • Ability to build strong relationships with partners at Ipsen North America Headquarters, field leaders, brand teams, sales support teams, V&A, and external vendor partners
  • Experience with AMA, ACCME, PhRMA and FDA regulations associated with promotion and industry-supported scientific education activities, and ability to educate field teams on their obligations for compliance
  • Superior ability to work in a self-directed manner while balancing a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and competing demands
  • Advanced oral and written communication, interpersonal, public relations, facilitation, management, decision-making, collaboration, and organizational skills
