Summary:
The Associate Director leads and develops sourcing strategies for the business in one more clinical service categories focused on delivering services for a specific customer segment(s). The Associate Director will be engage with the service provider(s) to serve as the primary SS&P contact for relationship level issues and opportunities and will work with the business to ensure timely and cost effective delivery of solutions. The Associate Director will work closely with members of the business to develop strong relationships between the business and our service providers and continually identify ways to deliver enhanced service levels and capabilities within the business unit and/or category.

Responsibilities:

• Identifies and resolves unique situations of substantial significance in field of expertise and knowledge

• Applies ingenuity and creativity to problem analysis and resolution in complicated and/or novel situations

• Uses independent judgement, sophisticated through, leadership and development skills to execute tasks and drive the sourcing team

• Either directly or through a matrix structure, manages teams of professional level employees and/or managers responsible for performing sourcing tasks to carry out larger sourcing projects

• Serve as the SS&P leader for the associated governance forums which can include Joint Operating Committee and Annual/Semi-Annual Business Review Meetings

• Work with the business to proactively identify systemic issues or opportunities that can be addressed by working with the service provider

• Continually work with business clients to identify new or evolving needs that can be addressed through service providers

• Lead sourcing efforts as necessary within the business area which include scanning the marketplace, issuing requests for information and formal proposals

• When necessary, prepare study specific request for proposals (RFPs); manage and influence RFP processs, competitive bidding negotiations and benchmarking.

• Manage the Master Services agreement where necessary for service providers; this includes all associated documents including the Charter, Quality Agreement and any appropriate addendums.

• Review major contracts for key areas of spend; monitor trends/patterns within the category, and serve as the escalation point for complex negotiations.

• Lead efforts to drive simplicity in how work is budgeted and contracted with service providers; this includes but is not limited to improving the current bid grid framework, simplifying units and establishing the appropriate incentives to drive high levels of service delivery

• Establish a framework with service provider(s) to drive continuous improvement;

• Coordinate vendor qualification efforts within the category

• Identify/define sourcing best practices both within and outside of Regeneron and ensure those best practices are adopted

• Assists with the planning and management of budgets, policies and practices for sourcing function with signficant impact on area operations

• Informs and influences decision making at the management and executive level

• Provides coaching and guidance on job performance and career development to direct reports (if applicable) and provides leadership examples for the organzation

Requirements:

Education

• Bachelor's plus 10 years of relevant, progressive experience within procurement, to include 7 years directly in outsourcing within publically traded biopharmaceutical companies

• Master's plus 8 years of relevant, progressive experience within procurement, to include 7 years directly in outsourcing within publically traded biopharmaceutical companies

Experience

• 2 years of supervisory experience or demonstrated experience leading a matrix team Working knowledge with Sourcing Contracting, ERP, eRFX systems preferred. (Oracle, Zycus, GEP, Ariba, Other)

• Ability to leverage standard business applications for communicating, presenting and analyzing (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

• Strong negotiations skills

• Cost modeling knowledge

• Excellent verbal and written skills

• Ability to develop detailed business cases

• Ability to build consensus, teamwork, and creativity within a collaborative team with limited supervision

• Program management experience and project management experience required
