Support the development and execution of the global medical affairs strategy for romosozumab via the bone Global Medical Affairs Team (GMAT), to maximize the value proposition of Amgen's bone franchise.

The Global Medical Affairs Director responsibilities include:

  • Key contributor to the development of global medical strategic plan and ensuring consistent plan execution through the Global Medical Affairs Teams (GMAT)
  • Support global medical launch planning and execution
  • Gather clinical insights and translate them into actionable strategies
  • Facilitate scientific engagement across a broad range of stakeholders to strengthen external understanding of the unmet need and value of romosozumab
  • Partner with the Global Development Leader and other key stakeholders on evidence generation strategy to support regional/local needs
  • Develop Potential Area of Scientific Interest (PASI) for Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS)
  • Provide strategic direction for study design and execution for global medical affairs studies
  • Work to enable access to medicines through clear understanding and education of treatment value in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Support strategy for medical communication and related activities, e.g., product narrative, scientific platform, core content, publications, medical education, and congresses
  • Contribute to Amgen's Global Safety and global Benefit/Risk profile of a molecule and ensure communication of the implications to external stakeholders
  • Facilitate and continue to build Amgen's role as a science-based, patient-focused partner

Basic Qualifications

MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school AND 2 years of medical affairs and/or clinical research experience in internal medicine, rheumatology, or endocrinology


PhD AND 5 years of biopharma experience in medical affairs or clinical research

Preferred Qualifications

MD with two (2) years of medical affairs biopharma experience

MD with experience in bone research or medical affairs (esp. osteoporosis)

Experience with stakeholder engagement and interactions (e.g. opinion leaders, advocacy groups, payers)

In-depth understanding of scientific method and clinical applications based on medical, scientific and practical rationale

Familiarity with concepts of clinical research, clinical trial design, real world evidence, and biostatistics

Sound scientific/medical judgment

Familiarity with regulations and guidelines that govern pharma industry practices
