This position will support the GTC organization globally in their efforts to ensure import/export compliance through creating, managing and performing required compliance training designed to improve skillset and knowledge of the trade professionals within the AbbVie GTC team. The responsibilities will include deployment of company-wide import / export and trade compliance training protocols and management of the GTC training curriculum. In addition, this role will be responsible for launching and analyzing of the annual Trade Compliance Assessment, track and monitor the status of the improvement plans, performing on-site audits and managing corrective action as needed. This function will be also accountable for maintenance of the compliance policies and guidelines, oversight of the local and global desk top procedures.

In addition to supporting global trade compliance generally, this role will assist in providing guidance to affiliates on customs valuation, oversee the post entry corrections processes, manage global recordkeeping, and perform other activities as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

Full accountability of the AbbVie GTC training program inclusive, but not limited to:
  • Analysis of the current teams knowledge need and creation of a comprehensive learning curriculum
  • Creation and delivery of the training program to both GTC team and functions impact AbbVie's import and export compliance
  • Alignment with other functions (e.g. Regulatory) to ensure GTC team has the right level of training on processes from external functions which may have an impact on GTC compliance program


Management of AbbVie's annual trade assessment program, internal audits and reviews:
  • Conduct annual assessment program
  • Conduct and support internal audits and on-site reviews
  • Analyze the assessment and review results and monitor necessary corrective actions to ensure process improvements and closure of identified potential compliance deficiencies
  • Manage internal issue database and identify trends and patterns which may negatively impact AbbVie, our supply chain and/or compliance ratings
  • Support external governmental reviews and audits/investigations globally to imports in effort to minimize any adverse impact to the company
  • Oversee the management of the company's post entry correction and global recordkeeping processes


Deployment, oversight and reviews of GTC policies and guidelines
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of corporate policies and global procedures for compliance as well as ensuring broad company awareness to these requirements.
  • Review and oversight of proper roll out and implementation of local and global desk-top procedures

Other major activities:
  • Monitor global/regional regulatory and legislative changes to import compliance and alert the appropriate parties on the impact to the businesses and company
  • Support broker management program and analysis of their performance
  • Define and collect information for an effective Global Scorecard for GTC function
  • Support the Global Import Manager in developing and driving solutions/strategies to issues faced by the businesses and the necessary controls around any change
  • Assist in efforts around compliance focused trusted trader initiatives (such as the Importer Self-Assessment Program (ISA))


Basic:

  • University degree in a related field (e.g., international trade, supply chain, logistics).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience working in a broker's agency, multinational company, or consulting firm.
  • Broad functional knowledge of import and export regulations
  • Knowledge of Administration, Foreign Trade Law, Customs Law, Tariff Codes, etc.
  • Proactive and well organized
  • Research skills and technical knowledge related to classification and duty preference programs.
  • Strong leadership and excellent communications skills are a must
  • Experience with global trade software platforms (e.g. SAP Global Trade Services module)
  • Trade compliance experience in several countries
  • Proficient in English
