The primary job functions of this position are to act as the instrument technician for the completion of scheduled and demand preventive/predictive equipment calibrations, troubleshooting, repair, and improvement of process and facility equipment, and to deliver 24 hour / 7 days a week maintenance support to the facility.The Instrument Technician will also provide technical expertise in the design, installation, and qualification of new or modified process or facility equipment.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Performs or arranges for preventive and demand maintenance and calibration on a wide variety of process instruments, controls, and electrical systems.
  • Conducts and documents activities in a manner that maintains facility compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP), process safety management (PSM), and other applicable regulations.
  • Provides instrument and electrical expertise in support of manufacturing investigations, failure and root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action planning and execution.
  • Provides instrument and electrical expertise in support of plant engineering initiatives and project execution.
  • Strictly follows all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) procedures and supports efforts to improve facility EHS performance.
  • Attends all required training and complies with the responsibilities associated with the instrument technician position as detailed in the applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conducts instrument or electrical related training sessions as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Basic:
  • Ten years experience in manufacturing facility instruments and controls, with experience in a chemical process environment desirable.
  • Problem solving, troubleshooting, and repair skills for a wide variety of electrical equipment, instruments, and controls.
  • Must be knowledgeable in troubleshooting and programming of PLC logic and have working knowledge of Distributed Control System (DCS) architecture and hardware.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with Maintenance Department objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively with operators, engineers, contractors, and vendor representatives.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency maintenance requests on off-shifts.
