Description Oversight of IT resources (internal and external) associated with operations, projects, and process improvements related to Time & Absence. Lead and align HR and Payroll BTS as their central point of contact for compliance initiatives including interpretation and applicability of IT policy requirements, Change Control, appropriate and adequate evidence for audit deliverables, and determination/rationalization of remediation, identification of proactive measures, and leading associated efforts. Expedite, manage, and coordinate a multitude of interrelated IT project activities within the constraints of human and financial resources and changing priorities to ensure the successful completion of initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Includes:

Oversight of IT resources (internal and external) associated with operations, projects, and process improvements related to Time & Absence. Lead and align HR and Payroll BTS as their central point of contact for compliance initiatives including interpretation and applicability of IT policy requirements, Change Control, appropriate and adequate evidence for audit deliverables, and determination/rationalization of remediation, identification of proactive measures, and leading associated efforts. Expedite, manage, and coordinate a multitude of interrelated IT project activities within the constraints of human and financial resources and changing priorities to ensure the successful completion of initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Resource and Team Management: Manage Direct Reports (global scope) according to AbbVie policy and HR processes. Coordinate resources (internal and external) to ensure project needs are addressed and effectively assign tasks and deliverables to team members based upon their abilities/responsibilities.
  • Initiate, Plan, and Execute IT Projects: Works with business and IT management to establish and gain consensus on project goals, objectives and deliverables. Responsibility for all global change request monitoring (including follow-up activities) as well as project and change control. Ensures priority assignment to all requests for changes. For payroll impacting changes, works with vendors to develop and execute a work plan to ensure all activities are performed and reviews changes and testing to ensure that they have met their objectives. Troubleshoot issues culminating in root cause analysis. Analyses change records to determine any trends.
  • System Maintenance and Project/Issue Communication: Partner with App COE to ensure system coverage and ticket management by MSP. Communicate progress by producing reports to provide timely and accurate status and decision support information to Project Team, Functional management, Business Owner. Maintain close communication and collaboration with key stakeholders to adjust priorities as needed and ensure that initiatives stay on time.
  • Quality Management: Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.


  • Strong organizational skills including experience tracking details of multiple concurrent lists and initiatives
  • Proven ability to challenge the status quo, negotiate position based on business practices and application of policy, and effectively utilize subject matter experts.
  • Management of Third Party Vendors as it relates to adherence to policy and abiding by their SOW, with regard to assigned responsibilities and executing project plans (including timelines and communication).
  • Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word proficiency
  • Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Knowledge
  • Bachelor degree in Business, Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 6 years' experience in project management, business systems analysis, software development or deployment, with a minimum of 3 years' experience managing projects.
  • Total Combined Experience: 7-10 years.
