At AbbVie, our vision is to be recognized as a biopharmaceutical company delivering a consistent stream of innovative medicines that solve serious health issues and have a remarkable impact on people's lives. To be successful, we need outstanding individuals willing to challenge themselves to find the best solutions for our patients.

The Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department at AbbVie is seeking a motivated Post-doctoral Fellow with a strong interest in better understanding small molecule pharmacology to sit in our Lake County, IL Office. This position will require a talented researcher able to lead mechanistic investigation of small molecule drug pharmacodynamics in cellular systems and how those drug molecules produce downstream proteome changes.

In particular, the selected candidate will be involved in looking into how much intracellular drug is required to elicit a pharmacodynamic effect (i.e., apoptosis) in cells and how the drug treatment leads to protein expression differences in cell death pathway proteins. This work will require the use of a variety of instrumentation techniques, including imaging and mass spectrometry, to achieve the desired results.

As a scientist in DMPK, this post-doc fellow will have the opportunity to work closely with a wide range of scientists and project teams as well as learn more about the drug development process. The post-doc will work in cross-disciplinary teams composed of cell biologists, modelers, mass spectrometrists, and drug metabolism / pharmacodynamics experts while serving as an interface across multiple project teams in order to provide support for advancing our oncology therapies.

The successful candidate will need to be a versatile scientist with an eagerness to learn new skills. The goals of this project include generating a more comprehensive view of drug potency and mechanism with which to impact program outcomes and will culminate in submission of results for publication in a highly regarded journal(s).
