Bluebird bio is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong skills in IT network engineering and design to be responsible for overall bluebird network operations including co-located data center network services, remote site network services and unified communications systems.

This role will provide technical and operational leadership for our IT network logical and physical infrastructure and will manage vendor relationships including managed service provider(s) as well as contractors or consultants.

  • Drive bluebird's global, multi-site network operations strategy
  • Manage IT deliverables for all capital construction and site expansion projects
  • Oversee the development, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade and support of all bluebird network infrastructure, including wired LAN, wireless LAN, WAN (traditional and SD-WAN), network security, Internet and data circuit inventory
  • Manage, deploy and support bluebird's unified communications environments, including blended Skype for Business UC, VOIP/SIP, PSTN, PBX and POTS architectures
  • Manage bluebird's IT network infrastructure vendor portfolio
  • Manage and delivery capacity plans and budgets for network infrastructure that meet the growth, scale and changing needs of the business
  • Partner with bluebird Information Security team to further develop bluebird's network security architecture
  • Partner with IT and business units on key network infrastructure projects

  • Must have a minimum of 5-8 years of IT network operations experience
  • Must have strong knowledge and working experience in switching and routing/network technologies in a Cisco network environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously
  • Experience with supporting a multi-site IT network infrastructure with a global footprint supporting a 1000+ end user environment
  • Experience in vendor management, computer operations, network management, technical management and end user support
  • Experience working within an ITIL environment
  • Excellent communication, customer relation and problem-solving skills a must.
  • Experience in biotech, pharma or life sciences preferred
  • Must have the ability to work autonomously on various problems and be willing and able to take on new responsibilities as needed.

Education and experience requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Cisco CCIE-level certification preferred
