Join bluebird bio's passionate and collaborative team by contributing to the overall success of our novel gene therapy approach. bluebird bio seeks an outstanding Director of Access, Value and Evidence Strategy (AVES). Reporting to the Senior Director of AVES and Access lead for hemoglobinopathy indications, the primary responsibilities of this role will be to contribute to key AVES launch initiatives for a gene therapy in Transfusion-Dependent β-thalassemia (TDT) and lead strategy development for lifecycle indications.

About the Role:
  • Key contributor for AVES launch initiatives for a gene therapy in TDT
    • Manage key launch initiative projects including value dossier development and global support for local dossiers
    • Responsible for launch tracking and coordination of launch preparation activities with other functions
    • Partner with regional and local AVES team members on implementation of pricing and contracting strategies by supporting analyses, leading negotiation simulations, etc.
    • Monitor competitive landscape throughout the launch period and pull-through necessary strategic updates
  • Lead AVES strategy development and related initiatives for lifecycle indications
    • Serve as AVES representative in cross-functional teams and communicate access, value and reimbursement perspectives to commercial strategy development
    • Execute access and value related projects of payer market research, access landscape research, payer advisory panels and/or early advice interactions - both those conducted in-house as well as vendor management for outsourced projects
    • Contribute access perspective to prioritization of value demonstration initiatives and integrate findings into access strategies
    • Develop pricing, reimbursement and contracting strategies for lifecycle indications


About You:
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in biotech/pharma or market access related consultancy with demonstrated ability to work cross functionally. MUST include at least 2 years of industry experience on a launch product
  • An advance degree (MBA or MS) preferred
  • Experience managing projects in a fast-paced, matrixed-team environment
  • Broad understanding of global healthcare reimbursement systems and basic principles of market access, pricing, reimbursement and health economics
  • Adept at processing complex and voluminous amounts of information, as well as producing spreadsheet and powerpoint-based deliverables
  • Excellent organizational skills, sufficient to multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment with changing priorities, ability to work autonomously is a must
