Aptose Biosciences is seeking a Senior Scientist I.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently designs, implements, trouble-shooting, and executes scientific research and development projects to meet tight timeline
  • Uses professional concepts and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult scientific problems
  • Demonstrates technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and independent thought.
  • Coordinates inter- and intra-departmental activities and research efforts.
  • Contributes to scientific literature and conferences.
  • Provides scientific guidance and training to more junior staff. Directly supervise one or more members of research group.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

MD. or PhD in biology, biochemistry or related field with 5+ years of relevant hand-on industry experience. Demonstrated ability to independently work on research projects as exemplified by scientific publications, conference presentations and/or patent filings. Must have extensive experiences in oncology and immunology research, especially translational research and mechanism of action studies. Must have in-depth knowledge on cell signal transduction. Skillful in molecular biology and immunology techniques, especially DNA/RNA/protein isolation, PCR, qRT-PCR, immunoblotting, gene knock out/down, and cell culture (esp. stroma and tumor cell co-culture), ELISA, multi-color (at least three colors) flow cytometry, animal xenograft study. Exemplary personal and leadership skills, unwavering ability to lead and mentor junior staff, exceptional communications skills. The candidate must be self-motivated and have good interpersonal/small group skills with the ability to motivate and supervise others and work effectively in a multidisciplinary, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills

Experience on cell isolation from human blood and bone marrow and bioinformatics is a plus.
