Position Summary

The National Accounts Director for Government Accounts reports to the Executive Director of Market Access. The key responsibilities are to ensure access of Regeneron products with Medicare and Medicaid, inform leadership on trends and strategies of Medicare Contractors, and serve as a primary point of contact to drive alignment across the organization on Medicare and Medicaid trends.

Develop and implement strategies designed to secure appropriate coverage and reimbursement of Regeneron products under Medicare Part A and Part B with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), and State Medicaid Agencies. Develop and maintain long-term strategic partnerships with Medicare Contractors, carrier advisory committee (CAC) members, professional state medical societies, and State Medicaid agencies by integrating mutual resources to achieve optimal outcomes. Primary activities include but are not limited to:

Lead execution of Medicare strategy:

• Set and inform strategic direction for cross functional partners

• Develop and execute plans around key stakeholders including Contractor Medical Directors, Policy and Pricing analysts, CAC members, Professional Society members and community based thought leaders.

• Gather information regarding policies and procedures at MACs

• Understand, adapt and work effectively with government employees

• Identify opportunity to maximize access within product labeling

• Work directly with DC office to align CMS policy with product strategies

Lead execution of targeted State Medicaid Strategy

• Set strategic direction for cross functional partners

• Develop and execute strategic access, contracting, and reimbursement plans

• Prioritize Medicaid states and activity within the Team and within the organization to the FAS team, Contracting, and State Government Affairs Teams

Serve as key interface with Government Affairs (State and Federal), Brand, FAS, RBM, OBM, Access Reimbursement and Market Access Marketing teams:

• Serve as a vital link to field sales organizations, marketing and management to communicate government payer issues, trends, and priority programs and initiatives

• Doctorate degree & 4 years of sales/account management experience

• Master's degree & 8 years of sales/account management experience

• Bachelor's degree & 10 years of sales/account management experience

• 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (e.g. MPH, MBA, PharmD, etc.)

• 10+ years of healthcare product sales experience including a minimum of 3 years management experience (preferably in sales)

• District Sales, Marketing or other Management experience

• Corporate Accounts/Multiple Segment experience preferred (e.g. Integrated Health Systems, Commercial and Medicare Part D insurance)

• Previous experience with Payer Organizations, including understanding the local coverage determination process (LCD)

Competencies and Experiences:

• Excellent oral written communication and interpersonal skills

• Proven problem solving ability

• Must be able to prioritize projects, gather resources, and drive alignment

• Ability to develop cooperative business relationships with field sales

• Experience inspiring and leading cross-functional business initiatives

• Excellent presentation skills and negotiation abilities

• Reimbursement / Segment Economics experience; Knowledge of P&T, PA, PDL and pharmaceutical contracting systems

• Recruiting, selection and development of staff

• Proven track record of successfully leading a dedicated team through a strategic planning and execution process resulting in positive change

• Proven track record of consistently meeting goals

• Functional knowledge of Medicare and Government agencies, policies and processes (billing, coding and reimbursement)
