A laboratory scientist or engineer with a sound understanding of the principles and techniques used in modern analytical sciences. The ideal candidate is motivated by a dynamic, fast paced environment and a collegial team-oriented approach. He/she will execute routine analytical experiments with minimal guidance, in support of process characterization efforts within the department.


• Executes routine experiments in support of multiple analytical development projects. Analyzes and interprets results and designs well-controlled experiments based on previous results. Contributes to project advancement by assisting in the development of new methods or technologies. Suggests modifications and alternatives to protocols. Routinely works on multiple projects simultaneously.

• Communicates experimental results, conclusions, and ideas directly to supervisor, project team members, and scientists and engineers in other laboratories. Presents at department meetings. Should be capable of writing experimental protocols, development reports, and SOP's with minimal supervision.

• Contributes to continuous improvement efforts within functional area.


• BS plus 0-4 years of experience or MS plus 0-2 years of experience. Recommended fields of study include, but are not limited to, biochemistry, chemical engineering and biochemical engineering.

• Preference will be given to candidates with biopharmaceutical industry experience and/or experience in an academic research lab.

• Possesses a working knowledge of research principles, as well as the theory and practice of standard analytical techniques.

• Demonstrates strong technical skills in a number of analytical methods and techniques, including but not limited to H/UPLC, electrophoresis, and ELISA. Experience using automated liquid handlers a plus.

• Possesses excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and computer skills.

• Proficiency in software for statistics (e.g. JMP) and/or liquid chromatography (e.g. Empower, Chemstation, Chromeleon) is a plus.
