Position Summary

The Skeletal Diseases group is looking for a PhD level Scientist. This focus of this role is to plan and execute in vivo experiments to enable target discovery and validation in the area of skeletal diseases. Additionally, this person will develop and execute various in vivo and ex vivo imaging techniques of bone using microCT, PET and other modalities, overseeing the operation of various imaging machines, image data analysis, development of new techniques.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Independently design and execute in vivo experiments to test genetically engineered mice and potential therapeutic antibodies in disease models.
  • Operate in vivo and ex vivo QCT machines and analyze data generated from them.
  • Set up PET imaging and investigate potential other imaging techniques to further our knowledge of bone biology, target discovery and target validation in various diseases of the skeleton
  • To keep up to date with current advances in imaging techniques and skeletal biology using literature and attending meetings/conferences in this field.
  • May directly or indirectly lead, guide, and assist Research Associates in conducting research.
  • The candidate is expected to work creatively and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment, and to present their research findings to interdisciplinary teams.

This role requires a minimum of a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline with 2+ years post-doctoral experience (in academia or industry). This experience must include the ability to plan, conduct and analyze experiments both in vivo and in vitro. Additional requirements include:

• In vivo and ex vivo QCT operation and analysis of data, experience with other imaging modalities a plus

• Experience working with mice

• Must have strong organizational skills including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously

• Ability to analyze and present scientific results to multidisciplinary teams and senior management.

• Clear and professional verbal and written communication

Level will be commensurate with experience.
