Associate Scientist - Genotyping/GMA Breeding

We are looking for a motivated and energetic candidate to join the Transgenic group. The candidate will be responsible for the genotyping and breeding management of genetically modified animals.

  • Responsible for tracking, coordinating, and entering all genotyping onsite and offsite.
  • Perform and record genotyping results.
  • Responsible for designing new genotyping assays and coordinating genotyping offsite.
  • Help manage and develop GMA mouse colonies through existing databases and contract teams.
  • Organizing and presenting animal production, health, and welfare to IACUC and GMA group.
  • Excellent written and oral skills are necessary
  • Accomplish goals under project team time lines

  • BS degree with 10+ years of industry experience or MS degree with 7+ years of industry experience. The degree should be in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular and Cell Biology, or similar field.
  • Experienced in genotyping methods including PCR, RT- and ddPCR, and DNA gel analysis.
  • Working knowledge with in vitro gene expression (RT-PCR, qPCR, ddPCR or similar) and immunology assays (immunizations, ELISAs, FACS, Western blotting, SPR or similar).
  • Experience with SNP genotyping assays is preferred.
  • Must be well versed in mouse breeding and mouse genetics.
  • Strong background in genetics and or immunology and have worked with transgenic animals.
  • Ability to work with a computer database system.
  • Strong molecular biology skills including experience genotyping.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
