The Manager of Business Strategy and Planning helps lead business strategy and planning across the US area and manages a multitude of interrelated activities or projects to ensure the successful completion of Brand Planning, US Area FutureFit strategies, and No Numbers Long Range Plan (NNLRP). This role leads large scale initiatives across the entire division in a matrix environment comprised of internal and external stakeholders.

Major Responsibilities:

Business Strategy and Planning:

· Strategic Brand Planning: Drives the implementation of annual strategic brand planning process aligned around 7 Strategic Anchors enabling development of plans for each US IBT

· FutureFit Capabilities: Drives multi-stakeholder approach to define, assess and build plan to develop future-focused capabilities for the Area's businesses based on NNLRP findings and driven by Executive Leader insights

· No Numbers Long Range Plan: Champions NNLRP to assess the future healthcare environment gathering key customer insights to develop a US point of view including future trends and implications (5-Year Trends, Future Needs, Implications, Recommended Actions and Area Narrative)

· Build organizational capability and strengthen enterprise approach in launch impact and business model execution


· Develops and maintains strong working relationships with key internal partners including Commercial, HR, IT, Compliance, Finance, Medical and Regulatory

· Directs financial and resource planning to optimize available resources and builds partnerships with senior leaders to achieve objectives within defined timeframes and budgets


Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline. MBA highly desirable to ensure ability to consult on business strategy development and analyze information to build insights.


· 8+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical commercial business

· Requires proven experience and understanding of Sales and Marketing in a mature pharmaceutical market

· Proven ability to lead in a complex matrix environment with and without direct authority

· Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to influence commercial leaders and clearly articulate strategic objectives

· Successful record of strategic planning

• Highlight what has changed in the healthcare landscape

• Uncover new dynamics and new trends

• Identify new capabilities for development

2. US Area FutureFit

• Build a business model that thrives over the long range plan by meeting the needs of stakeholders in a dynamic healthcare environment

• Create, update or remove capabilities that drive our long range plan

3. US Brand Planning

• Obtain direction and feedback of US Leadership

• Provide guidance and leadership for the integrated brand teams on 1-7-5 strategic framework

• Facilitate the annual strategic and tactical brand planning and review process
