Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics
The University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Medicine invites applications to fill a full-time faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level (tenured or tenure track) in the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics. This is a full-time appointment (1.0 FTE) with rank commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will have a key role in the research and education mission of the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics and School of Medicine. S/he will be successful in developing a sustained research program and work collaboratively with peer faculty researchers and support residents, fellows, and student researchers to design and conduct innovative research in areas such as personalized medicine, precision health, translational biomedical health informatics, health outcomes, mobile applications, and clinical trials. Expertise working within multi-disciplinary teams is a requirement. This individual will fill a complementary need in a broad-based program of delivering evidenced-based medicine within routine clinical care and will collaborate with health services researchers, qualitative researchers, statisticians and clinicians. The ability to teach courses related to biomedical and health informatics and clinical research will also be part of the job duties for this position. It is expected that some collaborations will result in scholarly publications, grant applications, and funded research opportunities.
The School of Medicine is located in the core of the UMKC Health Sciences District; a premier academic health district, engaging in cutting-edge biomedical research and entrepreneurship, delivering state-of-the-science health care, and educating the next generation of health care professionals.
Applicants must hold a PhD in a field related to and capable of working with individuals in areas of biomedical informatics, personalized medicine, health outcomes, or data science. Applicants should be able to use statistical software and data management systems. Oral and written communication skills would need to be excellent. The successful applicant will be expected to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment that includes mentoring faculty and students with clinical backgrounds such as medical doctors. Knowledge of research funding mechanisms, a track record of successful teaching, and securing extramural funding are desired.
