The newly formed Oncology Academic Research Leads organization is focused on building research collaborations between BMS and US research accounts, in order to balance the BMS pipeline, medical and data needs with the needs of key customer institutions.

The Oncology Academic Research Lead is responsible for the development and execution of a partnership strategy for [1-3] key Oncology research accounts and orchestrating the relationship management.

The Oncology Academic Research Lead will function as a liaison between complex internal and external organizations and stakeholders across functions (e.g. R&D, US Medical, Commercial).

  • Collaborates to define one aligned strategy for each research account, with both a customer focus and a BMS-enterprise view.
  • Directly interfaces with BMS researchers, asset teams and functional groups to ensure projects and activities remain complimentary and strategically aligned (spans Discovery, ECTR, Development, Medical, Commercial).
  • Establish a trusted partner relationship with senior most leaders on the account.
  • Creates a collaborative exchange with accounts through sharing the BMS pipeline/book of work and coordinating dialogue with a network of all key external stakeholders (e.g. site leadership, KOL, scientists, research staff, pharmacists, industry-affairs office personnel, etc.).
  • Effective and timely triage of issue resolution across the account(s), including integrating and facilitating interactions with key internal customer-facing stakeholders and then mobilizing them to respond to customer needs.
  • Leverages analytics to identify opportunities to optimize performance and works collaboratively with the institution on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of institutional performance through use of available tools and/or contributing to the development of new ones (e.g., Eclipse reports, CTP Score Card, etc.).
  • Keeps BMS functions (R&D, Medical, Commercial) apprised of major activities, visits, issues, opportunities, etc. at the sites.
  • Ensure and monitor the progress of the plan and engage senior leadership on a regular basis to review and adjust the plan based on research or business needs.

  • Advanced scientific degree with appropriate scientific acumen in Oncology or Immunology-related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years experience in pharmaceutical clinical development, Medical Affairs or relevant commercial experience.
  • In depth knowledge of overall project planning and project management of clinical trials.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analyze issues and opportunities at the institution and understand the impact to BMS, with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of the US healthcare system and institutions; strong external relationships in the US.
  • Strong, proven stakeholder and relationship management skills with senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with colleagues across multiple functions and at all levels of the enterprise.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with experience influencing key decisions.
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguous and changing healthcare landscape.

Expected 30% travel within the continental US.
