About Prevail 

Prevail Therapeutics is a venture capital-backed, New York City-based biotechnology company, with a mission to cure Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases using gene therapy approaches.   Prevail is based in the Alexandria Center.  


The Scientist, Discovery Biology will be responsible for assisting our efforts to identify and advance the development of novel targets for neurodegenerative disorders.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, scientist with excellent interpersonal skills who is comfortable working in an open environment spanning multiple functions.  As an early hire at a new company, you will have exposure to senior management, to all activities at Prevail, and you will be influential in championing and developing Prevail’s culture.

Our employees are expected to function with a high degree of independence in a fast-paced start-up laboratory while also working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team that is dedicated to the development of new therapies for neurodegenerative diseases.


  • Assist in discovery and translational efforts for preclinical programs.
  • Develop and/or execute in vitro/cell-based and in vivo studies, including techniques such as cell culture, transfections, qPCR, and protein assays.  
  • Develop and implement project execution plans to achieve short-term and long-term goals while ensuring alignment of regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, build, and maintain strong productive relationships with internal and external collaborators.
  • Identify and assess potential risks and work with internal and external teams to develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Broadly contribute to strategic thinking and development for lead and discovery programs.


  • Relevant Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a scientific discipline desired. Title and compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.
  • Experience in molecular genetics required. 
  • neurology/neuroscience experience desired. 
  • Experience in gene therapy desired. 
  • Experience in design and execution of in vitro and in vivo studies for the development of CNS directed therapeutics desired.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Expertise in creative thinking and multitasking with strong communication skills and comfort in a fast-paced, work environment.
