Position Summary:

Nektar currently has an opening for a highly motivated intern within Research Biology (In Vitro) group. The Summer Intern, Research Biology (In Vitro) will be responsible for expanding the In-house human PBMC bank at Nektar and characterizing PBMCs by immune-phenotyping and functional signaling assays.

Responsibilities:

The position involves working with primary human cells, performing flow cytometry based assays and data analysis. In addition to the flow cytometry-based work, the candidate will be also involved in gene expression and qPCR work. The candidate will work closely with other team members in the translational research group for day- to day planning, execution and analysis of laboratory experiments.

Requirements:

At a minimum, applicants should have completed their sophomore year of college. Required course work includes at least 2 years or more of biology including general biology and advanced level courses with course laboratory experience. Must have a demonstrated working knowledge of scientific principles. Good oral and written communication skills are required. Good computer and documentation skills are essential. Must be well organized and willing to work as part of a team. Eager to learn and working collaboratively are required for this position. Background in basic biological science and previous experience is flow cytometry and qPCR are desired but not required.

This is a paid internship opportunity, however, there is no relocation offered.
