Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Industry Post Doctorate - Vibrational Spectroscopy, are to:

 

 

  • The primary responsibility of this role, Industry Post Doc, is to perform experiments using Raman and NIR vibrational spectroscopy methods to analyze raw materials and other molecules of biological interest. The incumbent will act as subject matter expert capable of operating Raman and NIR instruments, determining spectroscopic parameters, modeling to predict quality and/or concentration of products, model validation, and data analysis and provide recommendations to project team;
  • Perform hands-on analysis using Raman and NIR vibrational spectroscopy methodology to analyze raw materials and other molecules of biological interest;
  • Conduct experiments of moderate to high complexity and interpret spectroscopic data, including modeling to predict quality and/or concentration of products, validation, data analysis, etc.;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to integrate spectroscopy techniques into manufacturing operations;
  • Participates in moderate to extensive problem solving which includes team members in other functions;
  • Create / write SOPs and prepare reports with large data sets for review, under time constraints;
  • Performs basic instrument maintenance and troubleshooting;
  • Adhere to safety procedures;
  • Provide technical training to new associates.

Required Qualifications:

 

 

 

 

 

  • Ph.D. in Science/Engineering with experience working hands-on with Raman and NIR instruments;
  • Candidates should have an excellent background in organic chemistry and physical-chemistry, molecular physics and molecular spectroscopy and computer modeling;
  • Hands on skills operating and manual tuning of commercial lasers is a must;
  • Able to create / write Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Good communication skills; ability to communicate with colleagues at different locations around the world;
  • Takes initiative, self-directed and self-motivated;
  • Can think scientifically and perform work with minimal supervision;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Participates in moderate to extensive problem solving which includes team members in other functions;
  • Technical understanding of biological/fermentation-related processes is a plus;
  • Flexibility in schedule to work outside of standard hours as project requires.
