Vertex is seeking a talented individual to join our Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics group in Boston, MA. We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate DMPK Senior Manager or Associate Director to support our small molecule drug discovery and development teams. The qualified candidate will work closely with our established in vitro ADME team performing CYP inhibition, CYP induction, drug transporter and other cell based assays. The selected individual will assist DMPK team members in Boston and across sites to analyze and interpret data which will be presented in a multidisciplinary team environment. In addition, the selected individual will also have opportunities to represent DMPK on disease area project teams. 

Key Responsibilities: 


Assessment/prediction of potential drug-drug interactions mediated by CYP inhibition, induction and drug transporters.  Evaluation and implementation of state-of-art in vitro technologies to assess drug-drug interaction potential of compounds.  Scientific mentorship and supervision of laboratory personnel is necessary.  Proficiency in PBPK modeling using software such as Gastroplus and SimCYP is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Biological Sciences/Pharmaceutical Sciences plus 7+ years of direct experience working in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Direct work experience in the field of CYP induction, inhibition and drug transporters, with strong cell culture expertise.
  • Must be highly motivated, organized with excellent communication skills (both oral and written), detail oriented, and a good team player.
