The Protein Science group in Molecular Discovery Technologies provides protein production, analytical, and biophysical characterization of protein targets, protein reagents, as well as therapeutic and reagent antibodies. This group supports programs across all BMS therapeutic areas including Immuno-oncology (IO), Oncology, Immunoscience, and Fibrosis, and all modalities including biologics, small molecules and cyclic peptides.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the purification and analytical characterization of protein reagents and therapeutic candidates primarily in the exploratory to early discovery space.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • This individual will be responsible for the purification and analytical characterization of many protein modalities (mAbs, Adnectins, reagents)
  • Play a role in executing our strategy for producing and characterizing proteins to support various stages of the Discovery process.
  • Analyze and present data to supervisor & at internal meetings.
  • Participate in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses.


• BS in a Biology or related field. Successful candidates should have 2-4 years of relevant laboratory experience in protein biochemistry preferably acquired in a Biotech, Pharma or Biopharma setting.

• Experience in protein expression, purification & characterization.

• Hands on experience in the operation, control and/or troubleshooting of at least one of the following chromatography workstations (AKTA, Bio-Rad, or Agilent systems) is required

• Protein characterization experience (Spectroscopy or Protein Assays, SDS-PAGE, biophysical characterization) and experience with endotoxin reduction techniques are desirable

• Experience with Bacterial and Mammalian expression systems is desirable

• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with a sense of urgency and ability to work under tight deadlines.

• Electronic Notebooking, Laboratory Information Management Systems experience is desirable
