HUYA Bioscience International is a development-stage biopharmaceutical company bringing innovations from China to global markets in multiple therapeutic areas. The Company’s lead cardiovascular program, HBI-3000, recently started a phase 1 in Europe and HUYA’s partner in China has run multiple phase 2 trials there. HUYA’s lead compound in oncology, HBI-8000, is in late stage clinical development in Japan and Korea for the treatment of hematological malignancies. In the United States, HBI-8000 is being developed in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors in solid tumors. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for overseeing the overall business operations strategy at HUYA.   As a crucial member of the senior management team, who reports only to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the COO will manage and control diverse business operation and function.

This is an office based position that works in a cross-functional and dynamic environment.  Clear, timely, professional, and effective communication with all HUYA functional areas and global office sites is essential.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures
  • Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth
  • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision
  • Write and submit reports in all matters of importance
  • Participate in expansion activities
  • Manage relationships with partners/vendors
  • Measure effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes both internally and externally and find ways to improve processes
  • Develop and implement growth strategies
  • Act as a liaison between company and client for quality assurance
  • Raise capital through banks or outside investors to help foster growth
  • Provide mentoring to all employees, including management
  • Motivate staff to meet or surpass organisational goals
  • Coordinate with human resources department to recruit skilled talent and keep the best employees
  • Oversee daily operations and make adjustments as necessary
  • Present new ideas and cash flow strategies to board of directors and other company officers
  • Promote communication between colleagues for the benefit of information flow

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of a B.Sc. ideally with an MBA or related advance degree
  • Minimum of 15 years of overall professional experience in a pharmaceutical/manufacturing/Biotechnology environment
  • At least 6 years in senior management position in a pharmaceutical company
  • Significant marketing/branding and fiscal management experience
