Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Investigator within the Biophysics group of Leads Discovery and Optimization at BMS. This group performs screening, on-target ligand-binding confirmation for HTS hits, weekly SAR studies, and mechanistic binding studies using biophysical or label-free approaches, with an investment in fragment-based drug discovery. The successful candidate will perform small molecule direct binding studies by SPR, MST, TSA, NMR, and fluorescence-based binding assays and will be instrumental in exploring novel technologies to enhance the biophysical platform. The position will require a candidate who displays independence in the laboratory setting with strong attention to details and excellent documentation skills.

Position Overview/Key Requirements:

- PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, or related discipline with 2+ years' post-doctoral and/or industry experience

- Strong working knowledge of structural biology and structure based drug design.

- Experience in fragment based screening using advanced biophysical approaches including TSA, SPR and MST.

- Demonstrated ability to independently design experiments, acquire, analyze, and interpret data as well as provide project updates in working groups.

- Ability to review literature and competitive landscape to proactively propose and initiate novel approaches to measuring target/ligand interactions.

- Excellent protein chemistry skills, including proper handling, formulation, and characterization

- Experience with ligand-binding assays, including assay development, troubleshooting and data analysis, in at least one of the following technologies: SPR, MST, TSA, NMR, ITC, or fluorescence-based approaches.

- Experience with liquid handlers and automation is preferred

- Experience in cellular assay development is also a plus

- Ability to multi-task by supporting multiple projects is essential

- Excellent interpersonal skills and oral/written communication

- Demonstrated ability in the analysis of biophysical readouts
