Purpose :
Describe the primary goals, objectives or functions or outputs of this position. Drive the design and implementation of global leadership development learning programs and solutions for AbbVie Senior Leaders. Lead or support a variety of projects and activities including the design and delivery of leadership training programs, conducting training needs assessment, consulting with business clients and Business HR colleagues and enabling executive coaching agreements. Reports to the Director of Executive Development. Position requires significant collaboration with Talent & Development colleagues including Talent Managers, Area Talent Development Leads and People Insights team members. Partners with BHR to deliver highly valued leadership development solutions to the organization.

Key Responsibilities Includes :
  • Lead the design and implementation of global programs and learning solutions for select senior level leaders. Includes onboarding/transition support, executive coaching, leader skill building and key talent development.
  • Source, select, evaluate and manage external faculty and executive coaches.
  • Provide select key talent leaders with individual assessment feedback and custom coaching in one-to-one or in small group settings.
  • Proactively identify and coach internal executive leaders as sponsors and speakers for learning solutions including speaker preparation, evaluation and feedback. Partner with Communications/Public Affairs colleagues as needed on program communications and creating executive speaker presentations.
  • Fully accountable for the flawless execution of all learning events including facilitation, materials, facilities and logistics.
  • Manage Program budget and expenses in the range $750,000 to $1,000,000 USD.
  • Provide thought leadership in creating and implementing best practice program management practices such as participant nomination, program impact measures, logistics and budget management.
  • Identify, evaluate and report long term talent impact metrics in alignment with Executive Development and Talent & Development strategy objectives. Meet and exceed participant expectations as measured by feedback scores and analysis.
  • Perform needs assessment, anticipate and analyze business needs; identify potential talent gaps; ensure alignment of learning solutions with business goals.
  • Engage global Business Human Resources (BHR) partners in the design and delivery of learning solutions. Significant partnership with global Talent & Development teammates to create, align and implement consistent program processes and communication practices.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Leadership Development, Training and Development, Business Human Resources or relevant business experience, with an emphasis on developing talent and leader capabilities.
  • Deep leadership development subject matter expertise required along with an active interest in creating innovative and thought provoking leadership learning experiences.
  • Record of driving business performance. Knows what it takes for leaders to develop others and create high performance teams.
  • Strong business and financial acumen skills.
  • Experience in successfully managing enterprise wide leadership learning programs or corporate initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to build and deliver executive ready presentations, ability to influence executive audiences.
  • Ability to translate business priorities into leadership learning solutions.
  • Experience leading measurement and evaluation of learning solutions.
  • Proven ability to conduct global needs assessment and strong instructional design skills and experience preferred
  • Position is based at the AbbVie HQ location in Lake County, IL. Up to 30% travel is required
