Job Description:

As a Research Investigator in Lead Discovery within LDO, this individual will drive the design, execution, and interpretation of high-throughput biochemical assays. The successful candidate demonstrates knowledge of screening approaches used for protein targets including the use of enzyme coupled formats, as well as, binding assays used to interrogate protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions. This individual will be an active collaborator and participant in the biochemistry, biophysics, cellular assays and mechanistic enzymology teams with the ability to simultaneously support multiple programs across therapy areas.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership in mechanistic biochemistry and enzymology as it applies to target validation and lead discovery
  • Demonstrate ability in de novo biochemical assay design including general bioassay optical detection methods such as fluorescence, HTRF, ELISA, absorbance, and luminescence
  • Knowledge of pre-steady-state and transient kinetics analysis of enzymatic and binding interactions using stopped-flow and quenched-flow instrumentation
  • Demonstrate knowledge in data capture and analysis, applied statistical analysis, quality control, and quality assurance measures
  • Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, pharmacology, biophysics, or related discipline with 2+ years' experience
  • Hands-on experience with liquid handlers and microtiter plate readers - Experience with fully automated HTS systems a plus
  • Hands-on experience in the design and execution of assays in a high-throughput setting
  • Knowledge of LC-MS for biochemical or cell-based assays
  • Experience in ligand-binding assays, including assay development, troubleshooting and data analysis
  • Expertise using common data analysis software packages (PRISM, Origin, Spotfire, etc.) for analysis, presentation, and curation of data
  • Knowledge of biophysical assay development including SPR, thermal shift, MST, ITC, and/or NMR would be considered a plus
