Position Summary

Summary:

The individual, under the guidance of a Senior Research Associate, will be responsible for performing in-vitro mechanism of action studies, developing functional assays for antibody screening, culturing and profiling human/rodent primary diseased cells, generating cell lines, and maintaining cells in culture within the Cardiovascular Research Therapeutic Focus Area. Additionally, this individual may be required to culture and functionally profile human iPS derived cardiomyocytes. This position will support novel target discovery for heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, renal indications, and fibrosis in addition to providing secondary screening assays for ongoing projects. The individual is expected to be highly motivated, dedicated to advancing drug discovery projects and exploring novel biology within Regeneron's fast paced environment.

Duties:

Tissue culture and bioassays
• Independently execute both molecular and cellular assays designed to address critical project questions and provide input on experimental design.
• Establish and maintain cell cultures for both cell lines and primary rodent and human cells.
• Culture and functionally profile iPS derived cardiomyocytes.
• Develop advanced cell culture techniques including co-culture, organoids, and organs-on-a-chip.
• Develop and execute functional endpoints for cell culture experiments - proliferation, migration, IHC.
• Proficient in transfection methods for both cell lines and primary cells.
• Collect protein and/or RNA for western blotting and gene expression studies.
• Perform immunohistochemical staining to define protein expression and distribution in cultured cells.
• Analyze data (Prism, Excel) - draw conclusions from results and be able to troubleshoot as necessary.
General
• Document experiments, results and findings in electronic laboratory notebook
• Present work at group and departmental meetings
• Communicate with both supervisor and other lab members in an effective manner
• General computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office
• Maintain instruments, troubleshoot instrumental/experimental problems, and order/maintain supplies
• This is a technical position. The successful candidate will spend a large percentage of their time in the laboratory conducting experiments and studies.

Requirements:

This position requires a minimum of a BS Degree and 2-5 years related experience. Experience should include:
  • Wet-lab molecular biology, cell culture, and cell based functional assays (FLIPR, proliferation, migration).
  • Basic computer skills including using Microsoft office, PRISM, and PubMed
