Describe the primary goals, objectives or functions or outputs of this position.
Plan and coordinate clinical research study related activities for clinical studies conducted at the AbbVie Clinical Pharmacology Research Unit (ACPRU) to ensure compliance with protocols, AbbVie standard operating procedures, applicable regulatory requirements and overall clinical objectives. May evaluate and analyze clinical data.

Key Responsibilities Includes:

  • Review protocols and provide input on study activities in relation to areas of responsibility.
  • Participate in protocol-specific training for study personnel in preparation for study activities.
  • Oversee study subject enrollment to ensure that informed consent is properly obtained and documented. Provide input to Principal Investigator regarding potential subject eligibility, as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and complete source data and facilitate the resolution of source discrepancies or issues as appropriate.
  • Prepare and maintain study-related documentation such as forms/tools to facilitate accurate tracking and documentation of relevant study information; IRB documents; and progress reports.
  • Provide direct care to research subjects, including: obtaining medical records; drug administration (oral, IV and subcutaneous); blood draws; ECGs; coordination of appointments; follow-up and management of side effects.
  • Record adverse event and side effect data and confer with investigators regarding reporting off events.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing, Bachelors preferred
  • 3-5 years of nursing experience
  • 1-3 years of work experience in a clinical research environment
  • 1-3 years of clinical research nurse coordinator experience (preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) for research as defined by ICH and FDA (preferred)
  • Current state of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse license
  • Advanced Life Support (ACLS) and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified within six months
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Computer skills using a PC platform with proficiency in Excel and Word (preferred)
