Your tasks and responsibilities

Bayer U.S. LLC 's Berkeley, CA, office seeks a Project Engineer to handle project engineering tasks in medium-sized projects ranging in size from $1 million to $25 million.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Project Engineer , are to:
  • scheduling, resource planning, progress monitoring, monitoring of resource utilization, forecasting, and reporting;
  • developing project scopes, performing project justifications and assisting project manager with the execution of projects in accordance with approved and established Scope of Work
  • contributing to procurement planning and contract management;
  • facilitating project risk management, system change implementation and close-out within the defined quality and project framework;
  • developing and maintaining project controlling tools and knowledge under supervision of the Project Execution Manager;
  • User Interface to translate user requirements to technical solutions for medium complexity systems and communicating of project related tasks to peers and project manager for overall coordination;
  • responsible for system design and close out documentation as part of engineering task deliverable; and
  • day-to-day correspondence/contact with corporate headquarters in Germany.

  • Master's degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering with a focus on construction project planning/management.
  • sustainability;
  • Project management techniques (e.g., earned value analysis, critical path method, and PERT) and investment appraisal techniques;
  • project management processes (e.g., in the Project Management Body of Knowledge of the Project Management Institute);
  • how to develop and update engineering, procurement, and construction schedules utilizing Primavera P6 Professional Project Management;
  • Primavera Contract Management or Prolog for managing project information;
  • how to develop project-specific planning, scheduling, progress tracking, and reporting aids in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint;
  • strategic project development and planning for research/technology development projects;
  • risk assessment tools and techniques; and
  • engineering, procurement, and construction as well as how these functions work together to meet project objectives.
