Function/Scope:

The HR Generalist is responsible for administrating and organizing all aspects of HR, with a heavy focus on Payroll and Benefits Administration. In addition to managing Payroll and Benefits Administration needs, the HR Generalist will manage the employee file administration, policy & procedures communication, employee on-boarding process, safety compliance administration and assist with recruiting and compensation needs. This position interfaces with employees at all levels and the information handled must be accurate and kept strictly confidential.

Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Payroll:
    • Processes and submits biweekly payroll; reviews timesheets and audits for overtime hours; maintains current knowledge of wage and hour laws and legal rulings.
    • Ensures payroll deduction and accumulator codes are properly entered into the HRIS system. Properly fund various benefit plans including HRA, and 401K.
    • Provides accurate and timely payroll reports to accounting.
    • Prepares reports as needed for ESPP funding and other benefit programs as needed.
  • Benefits Administration:
    • Health Insurance, 401k, ESPP & Stock Options:
      • Conducts new hire orientation on benefit programs (health insurance, 401k, ESPP, Stock Options), ensuring enrollment goes smoothly for all programs.
      • Assists existing employees with questions on plan benefits, claims, loans, etc.
      • Processes monthly invoices, working with the vendors to reconcile differences.
      • Provides employee communication regarding benefit plan changes, open enrollment periods, and other events as needed.
      • Maintains benefit records and data; monitors change reporting and eligibility.
      • Assists in coordinating annual benefit review and insurance renewal process.
    • Oversees the company’s vacation, sick and holiday benefit policies, ensuring accurate accruals and usage.
    • Responds to Unemployment Insurance claim requests.
  • File Management & HR Compliance:
    • Maintains all employee files/records following HR best practices and HIPPA requirements.
    • Processes employee data and runs reports in the HRIS and train managers and employees to use the system.
    • Develops and tracks HR related metrics; Supports other departments and management with requested data.
    • Interprets and explains Company policies and procedures as well as HR related laws, standards and regulations as needed.
  • Employee On-Boarding:
    • Works with Recruiting Manager to prepare New Hire Orientation Agenda.
    • Calendar meetings with team members involved in New Hire Orientation.
    • Prepares New Hire Orientation Booklets with all new hire documents.
    • Conducts the New Hire Orientation meeting with new employees.
    • Follows up with manager and employee to ensure New Hire Training is progressing smoothly.
  • Safety Administration:
    • Maintains and updates the IIPP and Emergency Action Plan.
    • Coordinates with managers to provide safety training and employee sign offs on training.
    • Responsible for coordinating and tracking compliance and safety certifications.
  • Recruitment & Compensation:
    • Assists Recruiting Manager with:
      • Preparing and updating job descriptions and requisition forms.
      • Posting position notices to relevant online sites.
      • Conducting reference or background checks on job applicants and preparing offer letters if needed.
    • Prepares compensation reports using current benchmark salary survey data as requested.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Provides verification of employment information.
    • Prepares separation packets as needed.
    • Refer employee relations concerns to the Associate Director, Human Resources.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

  • 3 years of Human Resources experience.
  • 2 years of Payroll experience.
  • A degree or certification in Human Resources is preferred
