The Director, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Immunology Rheumatology is the strategic leader for the development and execution of HEOR's strategies to support launch preparedness and on-market strategies for AbbVie's rheumatology portfolio. The leader represents HEOR as a core member of the brand leadership team and partners with other members of the matrix leadership and asset teams to ensure launch success for rheumatology assets and indications. The Leader is also responsible for developing the research strategy across in-line and pipeline assets and conducting the tactical execution of the book of work to support patient access.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leads HEOR rheumatology team in the development of the strategic plans and studies to support patient access all within a highly matrixed, team environment
  • Manages 1 or more HEOR scientists or statistical analysts conducting research in rheumatology either directly or through “dotted-line” reporting, proven people leadership skills required
  • Partners with asset team to determine FDA requirements for PROs and other patient-centric outcomes including the use of digital to support HEOR and brand strategies
  • Uses creative thinking and innovation to drive strategies which lead to meaningful differentiation and value of assets to to patients, payers, policy-makers, and providers.
  • Develops and executes HEOR research (RWE, modeling, 2ndary analyses, etc) including writing RFP, vendor selection, and management including budget
  • Sets the strategic direction of the Brand in partnership with the integrated brand teams focusing on the impact of evidence generation to solve complex issues.
  • Drive the design and aggressive execution of a high quality HEOR program supporting the rheumatology strategy for pipeline products as well as on-market products that effectively and efficiently meets ethical, scientific, regulatory, commercial, and quality requirements.
  • Preferred: PhD in health economics, econometrics, (pharmaco) epidemiology, public health or any other related field with at least 8 years of relevant experience (Director]
  • Will consider: MD or PharmD, both with an MS in Economics, Econometrics, or (pharmaco) epidemiology or any other related, with at least 10 years of relevant experience
  • REQUIRED: Immunology experience
  • REQUIRED: Experience launching a new drug into the marketplace
  • Experience leading HEOR strategies and tactics in support of pipeline development and on-market product support
  • Experience managing a team of research scientists
  • Innovative thinking and demonstrated willingness to change with the marketplace.
