Position Summary:

Provides day-to-day technical support to employees for internal desktop systems software and hardware. Installs, configures and troubleshoots desktop systems, workstations, and laptop issues in a heterogeneous environment. Communicates highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel. Implements hardware and software solutions, including new purchases and upgrades. Provide assistance in managing escalations that involve operations and computer equipment and software programs.


Uses professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve complex problems in creative and effective ways. Works on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other, lower level staff. Helps test, prepare, and deploy new software, enhancements and upgrades. Installs, configures, and tests desktop hardware and software problems. Tracks project issues and keeps senior personnel informed of project issues and progress. Maintains desktop, terminal, and printer hardware and software documentation. Supports on-call schedule and response to priority incidents as needed, and helps updates problem/project-tracking records in a timely manner. Provides some guidance to end-users. Helps complete desktop related projects as assigned (e.g., office moves, printer installation, etc). Interacts with senior internal and external staff to complete assignments. Researches and helps identify improvements of processes and procedures for Information Technology. Secures computer equipment for project teams and operations. Helps to determine best purchasing options for software licenses. Assists with documenting and measuring processes that support operations and procurement of computer equipment. May provide guidance to project teams. Performs other duties as assigned.


A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline is required. Equivalent experience may be accepted. A minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience is required. Previous experience working in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry is preferred. Good Business System knowledge and an understanding of the Company's computer operating system(s) and application systems such as Windows 7 & 10 and Office 2016 is required. An understanding of IP networking, Firewalls, DNS and other Internet technologies is required. Familiar with LAN/WAN and desktop security and structure is preferred. Must have a demonstrated ability to provide problem solving and troubleshooting support. Good attention to detail regarding documentation is a must. Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate well developed customer service skills. Must be able to follow Standard Operating Procedures. Good computer skills are required. Good organizational skills are required. Ability to effectively multi task is required. Some experience working in a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing or other regulated environment preferred.
