Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Bayer Animal Health Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Maintenance Technician, primary 2 nd Shift (Monday through Friday 2pm to 1030pm), are to:

  • Troubleshoot equipment and process failures and resolve malfunctions on PLC controlled manufacturing equipment;
  • Provide bench-work repair of machine assemblies for production as needed;
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance activities assigned on equipment;
  • Support Operations changeovers and equipment setups;
  • Provide repair, fabrication and installation of machine parts;
  • Assist with installation, verification and startup of new equipment and processes;
  • Provide input on recommended spare part needs for equipment;
  • Provide input on maintenance procedures and Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Maintain good work area organization and housekeeping;
  • Comply with SOPs and GMPs in a regulated manufacturing environment;
  • Maintain accurate log sheets and make precise notations of equipment or system behavior;
  • Assist with planned maintenance shutdowns activities;
  • Performs tasks as directed by the supervisor or lead.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with two years of accredited courses and/or certified training in manufacturing technology or related field;
  • Minimum of two years practical experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment and/or specialized experience in machine shop and welding activities;
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance activities on PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment. Experience working on pharmaceutical production equipment such as compounding tanks and transfer pumps, sterile and NS filling equipment, solids processing equipment, packing machinery in Human Machine Interface controlled processes desired;
  • Experience using Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures in a Food Drug Administration regulated environment desired;
  • The incumbent is expected to demonstrate maintenance aptitude for manufacturing equipment and processes and a desire to progress in pharmaceutical production support;
  • Good working knowledge of hand and power tools must be able to identify and properly use the correct tools and NIST traceable test equipment for the task assigned;
  • Prior machinist and welding skills using shop equipment such as a metal lathe, vertical end mill, MIG and TIG welders;
  • Prior experience repairing equipment and fabricating parts;
  • Prior electronics skills using basic electrical test equipment for PLC, servo, and VFD troubleshooting desired.
  • Calculate math problems, read and write at a high school level;
  • Good computer skills: Microsoft Office;
  • Individual will be required to work 2 nd Shift (Monday through Friday 2pm to 1030pm.).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience performing production equipment preventive maintenance using a CMMS program is preferred.
  • SAP and Trackwise desired;
