Your tasks and responsibilities

Our manufacturing department is currently seeking a co-op to assist experienced supervisors and production personnel on manufacturing improvements for Bayer's Myerstown Site. As a coop, you will gain valuable experience in Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma projects, as well as day-to-day operations in a manufacturing site at one of the world's leading corporations.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Nutritionals Manufacturing Co-Op (Fall Session,) are to:

  • Be involved in projects including, but not limited to: Changeover reduction, 5S, Pareto Analysis, time study, value stream mapping, standardized work, optimization of work flows, kaizen events, and statistical process control;
  • Basic use of project management skills;
  • Troubleshoot maintenance and reliability issues;
  • Learn the basics of pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Packaging processing and equipment including dispensing, mixing, wet granulation, tablet compression, coating, and tablet printing;
  • Review equipment specifications;
  • Collect and analyze data;
  • Work with non-union plant personnel and possibly external vendors to implement solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English;
  • Computer Skills: Must have in-depth knowledge of MS Office; • Must have excellent organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment;
  • Must be available for the Fall rotation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidate currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in any of the following majors: Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Material Science Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering;
  • Knowledge of C Sharp and/or Javascript;
  • Previous project management education or experience.
