Works closely with the Accounting, Human Resources and Benefits teams. Responsible for processing payroll timely and accurately for approximately 180+ employees, providing resolution on payroll questions to employees, researching outstanding payroll tax issues, and working with third party administrators (Payroll processor, FSA, 401(k)) to resolve issues.


• Provide prompt, friendly, and efficient customer service to employees who have questions regarding their pay, deductions, timecards, or the payroll process; maintain employee confidentiality
• Own the semimonthly payroll cycle for exempt and non-exempt employees by processing all compensation, including salaries, bonuses, commissions, car allowances, stock option exercises, stock refunds, and other pay
• Process new hires, terminations, status changes, LOAs, tax changes, deductions, direct deposits, rate changes, retroactive adjustments and special pays
• Process all deductions, including flexible spending plans, fleet, retirement plans, benefits contributions, 401(k) loans, and garnishments
• Set up direct deposit for checking and savings accounts
• Complete requests for employment verification
• Work closely with Human Resources to ensure that all employee address, supervisor, department, position, and pay rate changes are made on an accurate and timely basis
• Participate in month-end and quarter-end close activities, including (but not limited to) preparation of payroll-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and auditor-required PBC items, schedules, and explanations
• Prepare payroll reports as needed for corporate tax return
• Ensure accurate calculations of vacation and sick time accruals
• File payroll-related regulatory filings for Federal, State, and Local agencies
• Gather annual data to be reported on Form W2, such as disqualifying dispositions, health benefits, and relocation
• Work with IT and Human Resources departments to ensure integrity of data and system setup. Identify process weaknesses and propose enhancements
• Participate in accounting system implementations; QA new payroll-related reports, and participate in payroll-related system upgrades
• Ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance by adhering to internal control requirements, maintaining updated documentation for all payroll related processes and providing recommendations as appropriate
• Take an active role in stock administration

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years as an owner of full-cycle payroll
• Experience working in a publicly-traded, high-growth company, with a nationally based workforce
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred; American Payroll Association (APA) membership a plus
• Expert knowledge of payroll and payroll tax rules and regulations in US
• Experience with financial accounting software such as MS Dynamics AX and Concur Expense Reports is preferred,
• Multi-state payroll experience required
