Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that Equipment is performing effectively and efficiently as per Design and Capacity.
  • Revises Deficiencies noted during Preventive, Corrective maintenance and update the required documents to keep the Maintenance practices in compliance.
  • Develops resource and material estimations based on the technical complexity of the task/project and aligns materials, parts, tools and skill sets to accomplish the task/project.
  • Works with Maintenance Operations to ensure Job Plans are current and effective.
  • Supports the Training of Leads and Technicians on Maintenance Techniques, new practices and technologies.
  • Support Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives to improve the reliability of our systems, equipment and operations. Identify areas of opportunities to optimize equipment and systems using Maintenance Program historical data.
  • Provide evaluation of the Maintenance Program against impacting policies and regulations. Develop project plans to allocate Capital or expense as required to deliver on program improvements and changes.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS guidelines, cGMP regulations, Company policies and other external agency regulations. Support the development of related procedures and programs, implement and monitor performance to ensure compliance.
  • Identify areas of opportunity and prepare specific action plans to increase awareness and to maintain compliance
  • Provides support to the creation and modification of documentation to support maintenance and calibration activities (Maximo Job Plans, Data Sheets, Work Instructions)
  • Supports the development of departmental budget. Ensure compliance to budge by allocating expenses based on site strategies and business unit's priorities while assuring compliance with SOX requirements. Monitor and prevent budget over runs for items such as project activities, operating supplies, Tools Inventory, overtime, and contracts
  • Develops standards for major maintenance overhauls and outages, specifically for Shutdown periods.
  • Support the Cost-Benefits of the Maintenance Programs.
  • Support the monitoring of performance indicators for maintenance management
  • Reviews Analysis of Equipment Operating Data recorded by the Equipment BAS or PAS and Equipment Log Books.
  • Keeps up to date the different SOPs, Work Instructions, Job Plans and Preventive Maintenance Procedures.
  • Support Compliance efforts related to Quality Events, CAPA, Audit and change management activities.


Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of maintenance, operations and engineering generally attained through studies resulting in a B.S., in engineering, related discipline, or its equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in maintenance, engineering or operations of clean utilities and/or biologic process manufacturing and manufacturing equipment support.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for engineering principles and building and/or manufacturing automation systems.
  • Knowledge of Maximo or other CMMS applications required.
  • Strong experiential knowledge required on Clean Utilities systems.
  • Experience in working in an environment governed by SOPs and cGMPs and the know-how to work and manage within a regulatory environment.
  • Adaptable to a fast paced, complex and ever changing business environment.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are critical.
  • Willing to work on a night shift or weekends when required.

Contacts:

Frequently interacts with subordinates and functional peer groups at various management levels. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain the cooperation of others and conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules.

Working Conditions:

Incumbent's primarily work environment is varied with time allocated outside and inside all buildings of this complex and includes potential exposure to hazardous materials and requires the appropriate use of Personal Protection Equipment. Work involves direct contact with clean utilities and process equipment including, but is not limited, to aseptic processing equipment, Bioreactors, Tangential flow equipment, Centrifuge, Chromatography columns, HEPA filters, high purity water systems including WFI, sanitary distribution systems, clean steam, process gases, electrical distribution systems and process control systems. This position covers a 24/7/365 operation and as such will require some time worked during second shift and on weekends.

Decision Making:

Works on problems of moderate to complex scope in which analysis of situations or data requires review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Acts as advisor to unit employees and becomes actively involved as required to meet schedules or resolve problems. Ensures budgets, schedules, and performance requirements are met. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules and could consume additional cost and personnel to rectify.

Supervision Received:

Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals and processes to meet objectives. Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting of objectives and schedules. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Recommends changes to unit policies, and procedures.

Supervision Exercised:

Indirect (dotted line) supervision to technical personnel from the Maintenance Organization might be required supporting the Maintenance & Reliability Organization meeting departmental goals. Supervision will be limited to execution of planned work, as well as equipment troubleshooting. Maintenance Supervisors retain administrative responsibilities.
